March 11th - 13th saw Maarten don his Christchurch Electrical cycling jersey to compete in the 2022 Prospector in beautiful Central Otago.
The 2022 Prospector had 200 riders enter and was one of the only events still on the biking calendar due to covid-19 red setting requirements.
The event hosts categories for Individual athletes and teams set in the high country stations of Matangi Station MTB and Earnscleugh Station in the riding hub of Alexandra.
Unsure he could compete or finish with a late bike delivery and knee injury, plans needed to alter from team Christchurch Electrical with mate Dave Molloy to individual riders, however everything fell in place and Maarten received his bike in time to compete, he even made the coverage on One News Sport!
