2018 AGM Update from El Presidente

Welcome to the 2018/19 riding season,

It was heartening to see numerous members make the effort to come out at the recent NCCC AGM.  With a number of positions on the committee up for election it is my pleasure to introduce the committee for the next 12 months.  I am very excited to have some new committee members bringing new ideas to add value to local cycling whether it be MTB or road cycling.

Committee                  David Oliver, Graham Turner, Paul McLachlan

With the new committee in place I would be remiss in acknowledging the amazing work of the departing committee members.  Thank-you to Rob McLeod, Cathy Batchelor, Terry Hodgenson, Ian McDonald, and Derek Adair for your commitment to cycling in North Canterbury over recent years.  Thanks to you the club is in good stead along with increased cycling opportunities available in the district thanks to your efforts.

For those that were unable to attend the AGM please find attached the AGM Minutes along with the clubs financials and reports from the President, Treasurer, Road Captain, MTB Captain, Membership Officer, and Junior Development.

You will be aware that the financial year ended on the 31st July and that the new membership period began on the 1st August.  Thank-you to those members that have renewed their memberships already, but I encourage those that have not yet re-joined to renew your membership ASAP.  We all know that your membership gains you legal access to ride bikes within the Ashley, Mt Thomas and Okuku Forests but you may be unaware that your membership also gains you access to significant Third Party Insurance held by the club while riding in the forests.  So if you were to cause an incident the insurance will offer you protection.  Unfortunately if you have failed to renew your membership by the 30th August you will no longer be covered by this insurance and liable for any incidence you may cause while riding in the forests along with no longer receiving the weekly forest access information.

New Website

We have just launched our new website www.nccc.co.nz. It will take us a few days to get new membership tags to you, don't fret your current one is valid till the end of August. If you signed up on our old Sporty site for 2018/19 you will get an email from our new site as we transfer over. We are not double charging your CC.

I encourage you to re-join the club not only for access to the forests but to also be part of a local cycling community, supporting Junior Development, accessing group rides and social events with like minded cyclists

See you out there

Tony Dench
